The History of the AOH KC
The Padraig Pearse Divison #1 was founded in Kansas City on February 11, 1871 and today is Kansas City’s oldest continually operational Civic Organization. We have been an important part of both Kansas City and the local Catholic Diocese through the years. In the early days, there were many Irish immigrants in the area and the AOH divisions flourished with divisions in many parishes.
Our contributions to our faith and our Irish heritage continued through the years as well as the local community. We founded the Kansas City St. Patrick’s Day Parade to rekindle an old tradition in Kansas City.
We are part of the Largest Irish Catholic Mens Fraternal Organization in the America. Divisions stretch across the United States with a structure including national headquarters, executive board, and policies dedicated to the promotion of our Catholic Faith and Irish Heritage. Dedicated to the patron saint of Ireland,St. Patrick, our body of men work in concert locally and nationally to promote our charitable causes and pledge to be true to our motto of Friendship, Unity, and Christian Charity.
Friendship
We gather once a month on the second Thursday at Redeptorist Parish Hall for general meetings. We also come together to work at IrishFest and the Ethnic Festival to earn money toward our charitable works.
Unity
